We always have a lot of biosafety cabinets in stock and available from our warehouse just north of Boston. In fact, as of this writing we have a total of over 120 biosafety cabinets in stock, representing 60 different models and a variety of manufacturers.

Our technicians test each bio safety cabinet, checking that the controls and blower motor work properly. Unless otherwise specified all bio safety cabinets come with new HEPA filters installed by our technicians at our facility prior to shipment. Our testing procedure includes all the elements of a bio safety cabinet certification in order to insure that the unit will pass certification once it is at your site.

Baker SterilGARD III e3 SG604

Baker SterilGARD III e3 SG604

Although we still sell plenty of Baker SG603 biosafety cabinets and have a lot of great things to say about that model, we’ve also become big fans of the updates and changes Baker made in introducing the SG604. Improvements in operating efficiency mean that this BSC can operate for up to 70% lower cost than comparable previous models, while the fold up front panel makes changing HEPA filters and other routine maintenance a snap. These features come with a price however – the Baker SG604 is one of the more expensive biosafety cabinets currently on the market. If you’re looking for a durable, high-quality machine this is a great option. Click here to view more details on the Baker SG604 at American Instrument Exchange.

Thermo Scientific 1385

Thermo Scientific 1385

The Thermo 1300 series biosafety cabinets are a marked improvement on some of the previous Thermo models that included too many bells and whistles. The Thermo 1385 is a 4’ wide, Class II Type A2 unit with energy efficiency advancements, including independent supply and exhaust blowers that automate balancing of downflow and inflow/exhaust velocities. The flat work surface is conducive to housing large liquid handling instruments. Click here to view more details on the Thermo 1385 at American Instrument Exchange.

Nuaire NU-425-400
Nuaire LabGard NU427-600 biosafety cabinet.

The Nuaire NU-425-400 is an older model but one that is still in demand by many of our customers and for good reason: these are simple to operate workhorses that can get the job done without costing a fortune. On top of that, their timeless design won’t look out of place with any other equipment in your lab, whether it’s a 25 year old incubator or a fresh-out-of-the-box UPLC system. The Nuaire NU-425-400 has simple toggle switch controls and an analog Magnehelic gauge for airflow monitoring. You can see pictures and more specs on the NU-425-400 by clicking here.

And if you’re looking for a total exhaust biosafety cabinet, Class II Type B2, American Instrument Exchange has got you covered there, too. Widely used in toxicology laboratories and other environments in which chemical effluent is present and clean air essential, the Baker SG403TX requires connection to an exhaust in order to vent externally. Click here to see the used and refurbished incubator shakers from American Instrument Exchange.

We’ve been working with New Brunswick products for decades and their incubator shakers have always been dependable, easy to operate, and come in a variety of styles and configurations. We’ve got several different options in stock and available now.

Benchtop incubator shakers

The New Brunswick I24 is a compact model that easily fits on a benchtop and has a temperature range from 5°C above ambient to 60°C with a speed range to 500rpm and an orbit size of 1”. The 18” x 18” platform can accommodate flasks up to 3L in volume.

Other benchtop options include the New Brunswick Classic C-24 and the Innova 4000. Both of these models have temperature control up to 60°C and feature triple eccentric counter-balanced drives to provide smooth horizontal plane rotary motion.

Undercounter/stackable incubator shakers

Undercounter/stackable incubator shakers

The New Brunswick Innova 42R and Innova 4230 both offer versatility: they can be used as benchtop units, undercounter units, or stacked like cell culture incubators. The Innova 42R is a refrigerated model, with a temperature range from ambient –20°C up to 80°C, a shaking speed of up to 400rpm and a 1.9cm orbit. These models have onboard firmware so that users can program multiple parameters for each run. The Innova 4230 has a similar footprint to the 42R and similar overall specifications. It’s an older vintage and is build solid.

Toploading floor model incubator shakers

The New Brunswick Innova 43 is a great choice for handling large volumes of cultures with precision and ease. The top loading design allows for vertical placement of the flasks. A pedal operated lid and a window in the sidewall overlooking the samples are examples of why our customers continue to trust our designs. The cast iron triple-eccentric counterbalanced drive is specifically designed to support high-speed applications and heavy workloads. This model has a temperature range from ambient +5°C to 80°C and shaking speeds to 500rpm, with enough interior vertical clearance to accommodate 6L flasks.

Stackable floor model incubator shakers

The New Brunswick Innova 44/44R, the Innova I26/I26R, and the Innova 4400/4430 are all popular choices among our customers. All three designs are stackable up to three chambers, providing both great value and space savings.

The New Brunswick I26 and refrigerated I26R features a temperature range from -15°C below ambient to 60°C (low temp is ambient +5° for non-refrigerated models) and shaking speeds from 25 rpm to 250 rpm. (Single, unstacked chambers can be run up to 400 rpm.) Shaking speed control accuracy is +/- 1 rpm and the orbit is 2.5cm. Temperature stability is +/-0.1°C from 30°C to 40°C and +/- 0.5°C for the remaining range.

The Innova 44 is similar to the I26, with a cast iron support and counter balanced drive designed to withstand high speed applications and heavy workloads, this is the shaker that you want to have when you can’t afford any down time, aided by the robust triple-eccentric drive and permanently lubricated ball bearings. The Innova 44 has a wide temperature range capable of culturing a wide variety of organisms. The solid state, DC brushless motor is virtually maintenance free. Temperature uniformity is a tight +/-0.25°C at 37°C.

The Innova 4400 and refrigerated 4430 are older models with similar specifications to the I26 and 44. An oldie but a goodie!

All of our equipment is used and reconditioned. Our technicians test all equipment to confirm that it operates properly and to the manufacturer’s specifications. While we can’t test for a specific analytical application, we will do our best to simulate the conditions under which the equipment will be run. If you have particular testing requirements or requests, please let us know and we’ll work with you to make sure these requirements are addressed during testing.

If you need a cost-effective incubator shaker please give us a call or email today about these New Brunswick models. Thanks!

Like everyone we are adjusting to the new realities of the COVID-19 crisis. We have put our staff on a staggered schedule so that we can meet customer demands while still practicing good social distancing. We’re also limiting the number of vendors to our warehouse and have temporarily suspended visits from customers. As always we’re happy to provide pictures, videos, and testing details for any equipment you’d like to purchase, but for the time being and for the safety of our employees and customers we cannot permit tours or in-person equipment evaluations.

The good news is that we’ve had lots of great equipment arriving and that we have been able to assist several labs in ramping up and expanding COVID-19 testing.

We continue to be the preferred supplier for used and refurbished equipment to customers worldwide in a variety of industries, including major pharmaceutical companies, rock-star biotech startups, major breweries and microbreweries, cannabis startups, academic labs, and more. In addition to the global network of customers we have built over the past five decades a significant portion of our business is still centered in and around the biotech cluster in Cambridge and Boston that we call home. Below are some examples of used and refurbished lab equipment that we shipped to local customers last month.

So if you’re in and around Cambridge and Boston and you’re in the market for used and refurbished lab equipment, give us a call or email. You’re always welcome to come by the warehouse and check out what we have in stock and available. And if you’re not local that’s fine too: we utilize a huge network of freight carriers in order to quickly and safely ship lab equipment across the USA and around the world. Thanks!
