We recently received several Thermo Scientific model 1510 biosafety cabinets in stock. These units are in almost new condition, having been installed at a lab that changed methodologies before these bio cabs were ever used.

The Thermo 1510 is a 4’ wide Class II Type B2 biosafety cabinet that requires direct connection to external exhaust and provide personal and product protection from biological hazards and contamination as well as protection from volatile toxic chemicals used in the cabinet. The Thermo 1510 B2 cabinet has NO recirculation inside the work chamber. Air from the external environment is drawn into the blower motor plenum, filtered and then pushed into the work area as downflow air. All of the downflow air and all of the air entering the cabinet through the front opening (inflow) air is “totally exhausted”, eliminating the risk of sample or user exposure to harmful chemicals through recirculation. Due to this non-recirculated air flow and total exhaust system, the 1500 Series B2 cabinet provides a higher level of product and user protection from high concentrations of some volatile toxic chemicals and radionuclides.

Thermo Scientific Class II Type B2.

The 1500 Series B2 biological safety cabinet features an ergonomic design, advanced DC motor technology, and innovative airflow system that maximizes operator safety. The auto compensation feature allows the safe use of optional downflow air prefilters and an automatic adjustment of downflow velocity during HEPA filter loading provides added product protection. The timed UV light option reduces risk of sample contamination and lowers bulb replacement costs. A convenient display lets you see the cabinet is operating safely while you are working while the 10° sloped window for ergonomic posture reduces strain and fatigue associated with long working hours and the single-piece stainless steel work tray minimizes loss of pipette tips and spills into the drain pan.

If you’re looking for a Class II, Type B2 total exhaust biosafety cabinet for your lab please give us a call or email today about the Thermo 1510. Thanks!

A tabletop ultracentrifuge with a footprint as small as a laptop computer? If that doesn’t sound possible then you are clearly not familiar with the Beckman Airfuge. This air-driven ultracentrifuge packs a lot of capability into a small body that offers a simple method for removing chylomicrons for accurate lipemic clarification results in as little as 10 minutes. So it’s a time-saver AND a space-saver!

Beckman Airfuge.

With a speed range of up to 110,000rpm, the Beckman Airfuge doesn’t use vacuum or high-speed bearings; instead, the rotor is supported and spun by streams of air. This method offers increased efficiency over motor-drive models, with max speeds reached in 30 seconds or less, a combination of high g-forces and short path lengths, and smooth deceleration to keep contents separated.

A variety of rotors are compatible with the Beckman Airfuge and can support pelleting of almost all the materials that can be done in a full-size, motor-drive centrifuge. Additionally, the small volume processing of 100uL to 7 mL means that there’s no need to dilute samples.

What’s more, the Beckman Airfuge doesn’t use vacuum or high-speed bearings, so it is an exceptionally safe ultracentrifuge because the rotor is held in place by a pressure differential created during centrifugation.

So if you’re in the market for an ultracentrifuge and want a space-saving, time-saving, cost-saving solution, please give us a call or email today about the Beckman Airfuge. Thanks very much!

As always we’re happy to provide pictures, videos, and testing details for any equipment you’d like to purchase, but for the time being and for the safety of our employees and customers we cannot permit tours or in-person equipment evaluations.

We continue to be the preferred supplier for used and refurbished equipment to customers worldwide in a variety of industries, including major pharmaceutical companies, rock-star biotech startups, major breweries and microbreweries, cannabis startups, academic labs, and more. In addition to the global network of customers we have built over the past five decades a significant portion of our business is still centered in and around the biotech cluster in Cambridge and Boston that we call home. Below are some examples of used and refurbished lab equipment that we shipped to local customers last month.
