American Instrument Exchange is proud to partner with ClorDiSys to provide biodecontamination services for routine or single-time events.

Whether you need a decon in response to a contamination or preventative decontamination of new or existing facilities, the ClorDiSys chlorine dioxide gas methodology provides complete decontamination of your facility all at once, with minimal equipment and minimal downtime. This gaseous system has the ability to achieve complete distribution and penetration to all surfaces within your facility, including cracks and crevices, which other methods can’t achieve.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

ClorDiSys Decontamination Services from American Instrument Exchange.

When performing a decontamination service, accurate gas concentration measurements are taken continuously from various places within the space using a calibrated photometer. The decontamination is only said to be complete once the proper dosage has been exceeded at all sample locations.

In addition to concentration measurements, biological indicators (BIs) can be used to test the efficacy of the decontamination. BIs consist of over 1 million bacterial spores known to be among the most resistant to chlorine dioxide gas. The BIs are placed in hard-to-reach places during the decontamination and then dropped into a growth media and incubated to check for growth. After 36 hours, the BIs are checked and if no growth is present, the decontamination is deemed successful.

Aside from the additional downtime, delegating the repair to an unqualified employee may exacerbate the issue. The employee may accidentally aggravate the issue or damage other process components if they lack the necessary expertise. As a result, in addition to paying for the initial issue, the lab must also cover the additional downtime caused by the new issues.

CHLORINE DIOXIDE GAS – Safety & Material Compatibility

Chlorine dioxide gas is less corrosive than most other common decontamination methods. CD gas is compatible with electronics, epoxies, materials of construction (stainless steels), and more.

American Instrument Exchange and ClorDiSys decontamination services can be utilized for a variety of applications from tented pieces of equipment and small chambers up to entire facilities. ClorDiSys has the capability to decontaminate areas over 4,000,000 ft3 (113,267 m3). Services can be arranged for contamination response or preventive control needs. They can be scheduled as needed or contracted for routine prevention, scheduled maintenance, and shutdown periods. If you have contamination issues or are interested in overall facility decontamination prior to move-in, American Instrument Exchange and ClorDiSys can help you.

Cell culture incubators

We consistently stock industry standards such as the Thermo Forma 4110, Thermo Heracell 150i, and Thermo Stericult 3310 incubators. These chambers are for sale individually or as stacks; stackable configurations provide greater storage volume without increasing footprint. These units are water-jacketed to help maintain temperature stability.

Thermo Heracell 150i

If you prefer air-jacketed incubators the Panasonic MCO-19AIC series feature 6 cubic foot capacity and are also stackable. Additionally, these models feature a dual process decontamination routine for effective sterilization in less than three hours for reduced downtime. The digital display has multi point data logging and microprocessor PID controller.

We have several other cell culture incubators in stock, including the Thermo 370 Stericycle, Esco Celculture CO2 incubators, Caron Wally stacking units, Binder C150 models, and large capacity reach-in units like the Caron 7400 model and Shel Lab SC031.

Biosafety cabinets

We are one of the only used lab equipment dealers in the country that consistently stocks hundreds of BSCs in our warehouse. Whether you’re looking for one unit for a small lab or twenty biosafety cabinets for a major expansion, we can provide you with a decontaminated and ready to use BSC with new filters, tested and certified in our shop so that it guaranteed to pass certification when it reaches your laboratory.

Baker SG403 and Baker SG603 biosafety cabinets are still one of our best selling models. Baker produces some of the most reliable BSCs on the market and customers are always happy with the durability and easy function of these models.

Labconco Logic Plus models are very popular. These units are energy efficient with a redesigned airflow management system that can extend HEPA filter lifespan by up to 30%. We have 4’ Labconco Logic+ units available as well as several 6’ Labconco Logic+ options.

Thermo Scientific has recently introduced the redesigned 1300 series BSCS, which we’ve written about before. These units feature a sleek, clean line design that cut out bells and whistles while retaining practical updates.

We’re also fans of Nuaire biosafety cabinets like the Nuaire NU-425-400 and NU-425-600. Lately we’ve been seeing an increase in demand for the Nuaire NU-425-300 models for labs that have a need for a BSC but face space constraints.

Centrifuges

Most cell culture labs want at least one tabletop centrifuge like the Eppendorf 5910Ri or the Thermo XTR. Both of these models can spin swinging bucket rotors as well as fixed angle rotors. We still sell plenty of the Beckman Allegra 6R models too – an industry standard for over twenty years, the Allegra 6Rs are some of the most durable centrifuges we’ve had the opportunity to work with.

Some labs require floor model centrifuges such as the classic Beckman J-20XP or Beckman Avanti J-E. For high speed batch processing there’s the Thermo Sorvall RC BIOS with a 6 x 1L fixed angle Fiberlite rotor. And if you want one of the newest, most versatile floor model centrifuges on the market for your lab with have the Sorvall LYNX 4000 in stock and available.

Cold storage

Cold storage is a must have for every cell culture lab and American Instrument Exchange has you covered with fridges, freezers, ultralow freezers, and cryogenic storage tanks in stock. Popular refrigerator models include the Helmer ILR125 lab fridge, the Thermo MR30SS, and Norlake lab units.

Freezer options include LabRepCo LABH-20-FM models, Thermo TSX2320FA units, and VWR SCMPF models. If you need a lot of storage space we generally have several double and triple door options as well.

And ultralow temperature storage of -80⁰C? We always have a wide variety of options on hand, including the Panasonic/PHCBi MDF-DU702VH-PA ECO series, Thermo RLE series ultralows, and lots of Thermo UxF series.

Cryogenic storage tanks are a great option too – though you’ll need a supply of liquid nitrogen, a good LN2 tank can keep your sample safe and cold even during extended power outages. Click here to see several different options, from small manual fill dewars to giant autofill models.

Inverted microscopes

A quality inverted scope is another necessity for cell culture work. If you’re on a budget consider a Nikon TMS or Nikon TS100. These are older models but durable and versatile, so they’re still popular with many customers. If you’d prefer something a little bit more advance there’s the Olympus CKX41SF or the Zeiss Axiovert A1. And for those of you that need phase contrast, fluorescence, or other specialized features for your application, just give us a call or email with questions, or browse all our scopes!

We also have plenty of miscellaneous benchtop equipment like water baths, pipettes, vortex mixers, hotplate stirrers, and more.

So if you’re in Boston, Cambridge, or anywhere in New England and you’re looking to get your cell culture lab up and running please give us a call or email today. We’re happy to review the options we have in stock and tailor an equipment package to fit the needs of your and your lab. And of course you’re welcome to come to our warehouse and take a look at the equipment in person. Thanks very much and we hope to see you soon!
