Features
Designed with modularity in mind, the BioTek Cytation 5 supports current workflows while remaining upgradable to meet future research needs. Its proprietary Hybrid Technology combines the sensitivity of filters with the flexibility of monochromators, ensuring precise detection across multiple assay types. The available detection modes include UV-Vis absorbance, fluorescence, and luminescence. Additionally, fluorescence microscopy up to 60x expands its capabilities to fixed and live-cell imaging.
The 100 mW Alpha Laser delivers powerful excitation, enabling high sensitivity and fast reading speeds essential for Alpha assays. With modular and upgradable configurations, researchers can add automated digital microscopy as their needs evolve. The hybrid optical design integrates filter-based fluorescence optics for high transmission and sensitivity while using monochromator optics for added convenience and flexibility.
Environmental controls and robust shaking profiles ensure consistent live-cell assay data. Temperature control up to 65°C, along with CO2/O2 regulation, creates a stable environment for cell-based experiments. Variable bandwidth monochromators, adjustable from 9 to 50 nm in 1 nm increments, optimize assay performance by enhancing sensitivity and specificity.
The optional Peltier Cooling Module allows rapid cool-down after incubated processes, ensuring smooth transitions between multiple applications. By maintaining environmental stability despite internal and external temperature fluctuations, this module supports temperature-sensitive assays with minimal variation. The Cytation 5’s broad application range, from biomarker assays to kinetic studies, makes it a powerful tool for automated digital microscopy and multi-mode detection.
