We work with a lot of environmental chambers here at American Instrument Exchange – humidity chambers, diurnal growth chambers, reach-in CO2 incubators – and Caron Products models are always some of our favorites.
The Caron 6545-1 photostability chamber is no exception. This model is designed to perform near UV and visual light testing in a controlled atmosphere environment. The interior lights automatically shut off after a specified exposure level or time duration. Ultrasonic injection and mechanical refrigeration allow for precise humidity control while uniform light distribution and high intensity levels allow quick response for forced degradation testing and confirmatory studies. Two light detectors (one VIS and one UVA) with an integral radiometer are standard and provide precise and accurate light intensity measurements and temperature control.
One feature that really jumps out at us when using the Caron 6545-1 is the control interface. It’s front mounted, bright and easy-to-read, with responsive touch-screen. When the unit is placed on a benchtop the screen is at or near eye level for most users. The navigation is icon-based and simple to learn. Other features include automatic or manual settings allow for flexibility in test time durations, as well as simplifying chamber validation, and programmable alarms will notify users when aging lamps should be replaced.

The Caron 6545-1 is refrigerated and has a temperature range from 5°C to 35°C as well as active humidity control from 40%RH to 70%RH. The typical UVA light intensity is 20 W/m2 while the VIS light intensity is 20 klux. The chamber has a 10.5 cubic foot capacity.
