PCR Enclosures in stock now

In addition to sell biosafety cabinets, chemical fume hoods, and clean benches, we also stock PCR enclosures. PCR enclosures are specifically designed for use in polymerase chain reaction experiments and when used properly can drastically reduce the risk of sample cross contamination.

Labconco models are some of the most popular among our customers. Labconco Purifier filtered PCR enclosures provide continuous ontinuous downflow of particulate-free, HEPA filtered air throughout the work area. An integral UV light with a solid-state timer provides an automatic 5 minute exposure to destroy contaminating DNA and RNA in the work area. Some units include UV lights that can be used to eliminate contaminants.

AirClean PCR workstations are also in demand. These units feature simple construction with reliable operation. Most have an interlocking sash with safety overlap to prevent any gaps with a safety switch that automatically turns off the ultraviolet light and activates the blower and fluorescent light when the sash is raised. The uni-body design provides user protection during the UV sterilization process. Clear polypropylene construction allows for 360-degree visibility as well as easy cleaning. A classic! We’ve been working with French Presses for years, back when they were produced by SLM and Aminco. And what’s not to love about these machines? They’re solid, simple, and durable.

Thermo FRENCH Press

The French pressure cell press, or French press, is an apparatus used in biological experimentation to disrupt the plasma membrane of cells by passing them through a narrow valve under high pressure. For years the FRENCH Press was the go-to tool for preparation in protein studies, extraction of nucleic acids and cell disruption of various prokaryotic and eurkaryotic cells because it provides a rapid and effective mechanism for gentle disruption of cell membranes and walls, and does so in more uniform and complete disruption than possible with other mechanical or ultrasonic methods.

How does it work? Well, to summarize, the press uses an external hydraulic pump to drive a piston within a larger cylinder that contains the liquid sample. The highly pressurized sample is then squeezed past a needle valve. As the sample passes through the valve, the fluid experiences shear stress and decompression, causing cellular disruption.

Installation can be completed in a matter of minutes and operation of the FRENCH Press is a cinch.

In order to protect both our staff and customers during the COVID-19 pandemic we are working in staggered shifts with reduced numbers of staff in order to observe social distancing protocols. We’re disinfecting our offices and warehouse daily and taking other precautions to provide for the health and safety of our staff and vendors. For the time being we’ve closed the warehouse and office to visitors but we’re still able to ship orders quickly and efficiently. We’re also continuing to receive equipment.

For example, we recently received a Baker Ruskinn InvivO2 400 cell culture workstation. This unit is designed to mimic the oxygen physiology of your subject matter, giving you the reassurance of precise results under controlled conditions. It allows you to isolate cells in a chamber that accurately maintains and controls temperature, humidity, oxygen and carbon dioxide. These models are hard to come by so we’re lucky to have it in stock!

Labconco FreeZone 12.

Another unit we’re excited about is Labconco FreeZone 12 lyophilizer with stoppering tray dryers. This model is in great condition and is designed for moderate aqueous sample loads. The system removes a maximum of 8 liters of water in 24 hours and features brushed stainless steel and powder-coated steel exterior; stainless steel collector and coil; LCD that displays system operating parameters, set-up parameters and alarm messages; 1 hp CFC-free refrigeration system; red alarm light; LED vacuum and temperature wave graphs; patented moisture sensor; vacuum control/break valve; rear-mounted RS-232 port; automatic start-up switch for collector cool-down and vacuum pull-down with manual override switches; hot gas defrost and switch; and a retractable collector drain line. Labconco is one of our favorite manufacturers to work with and we’re always happy to see their products. We also have a FreeZone Triad benchtop model available.

If you’re looking for an inexpensive balance we have several Ohaus models in stock. These are smaller toploading units with capacities up to 8.2kg. Get a basic weighing solution without hurting your wallet!

Another one of our favorites recently came in, too: the New Brunswick Innova 44 incubator shaker! These stackable, “pizza oven door” style incubator shakers has set a new industry standard and will provide years of dependable service in your lab. With a cast iron support and counter balanced drive designed to withstand high speed applications and heavy workloads, this is the shaker that you want to have when you can’t afford any down time.

If you need a glassware washer, check out the Miele G7783CD. This freestanding unit is a front-loading automatic machine for the efficient washing – neutralizing – rinsing – final rinsing of laboratory glassware. It can be operated on normal water supply. There are “AD” (aqua distillate) programs with final rinses using purified water (distilled, R.O., or deionized). The built in heater sterilizes glassware between 90°C and 93°C for ten minutes.

Many people believe that Mettler Toledo balances set the standard for quality laboratory balances. We’ve always found Mettler products to be reliable, well-built, and popular with customers.

So we’re please to have a Mettler AX26DR balance in stock and available. These units always seem to be in demand, and for good reason: it’s a hybrid analytical/microbalance that can weigh samples down to 0.002mg but doesn’t break the bank on price.

The Mettler Toledo AX26DR is a dual range balance with readability in the fine range of 0.002mg to 3.0g and a full range of 0.01mg readability to 21g capacity. This balance is electronic and features proFACT fully automated calibration technology. The draft shield doors can be engaged to move together or each door can be moved independently with manual/one-touch/motorized operation. The Mettler Toledo AX26DR also features touch screen and hands-off operation modes that allow users open and close the glass draft shields and/or zero the balance without touching the controls.

Another handy feature is the fully automatic adjustment (calibration and linearization) using internal weights. This ProFACT system can be programmed to adjust the balance fully automatically on the basis of pre-selected criteria.

Baker Ruskinn InvivO2 400 physiological cell culture workstation

We’re very excited to have a Baker Ruskinn InvivO2 physiological cell culture workstation in stock. We’ve been working with Baker products for decades and have always been impressed not only with the quality of the machines from The Baker Company but also with the technical support and customer service personnel at Baker.

The Baker Ruskinn InvivO2 400 is a hypoxia workstation that precisely replicates low-oxygen ‘in vivo’ physiology in order to create an ideal research platform for cell biologists and cancer researchers. Using the Baker Ruskinn InvivO2 you can isolate cells in a chamber that accurately maintains and controls temperature, humidity, oxygen level, and carbon dioxide level so that you’re able to study complex cell interactions under either hypoxic or anoxic conditions.

Oxygen levels can be controller to and maintained from 0.1% to 23.0% while carbon dioxide concentrations can be maintained from 0.1% to 30.0%. A heater system holds temperature within the chamber between 5°C above ambient and 45°C, adjustable in 1°C increments.

The working capacity of the InvivO2 is 520 x 96-well plates, with an interlock transfer time of 28 plates in 45 seconds.

Our technicians test all equipment to confirm that it operates properly and to the manufacturer’s specifications. While we can’t test for a specific analytical application, we will do our best to simulate the conditions under which the equipment will be run. Like everyone we are adjusting to the new realities of the COVID-19 crisis. We have put our staff on a staggered schedule so that we can meet customer demands while still practicing good social distancing.
