For many years we’ve worked with a variety of Labconco products including glove boxes, filtered balance enclosures, fume hoods, glassware washers, and biosafety cabinets, including the newest Axiom Type C1 model. And one product line we’ve always liked is the Labconco FreeZone freeze dryer series.

Let’s get into the basics first. The Labconco FreeZone Plus 6 is a console style system, meaning it’s mounted on casters and intended to sit on the floor and operate as a freestanding system. The collector has a low temp of -84°C and the ice holding capacity is 6L. A vacuum pump with displacement of 98L/min or higher is required for use (and we provide pumps with the units we sell here at American Instrument Exchange). The system we currently have in stock is set up with a 12-port drying chamber. The refrigerant used in the refrigeration system is CFC-free to reduce harm to the environment in production and use.

Over the years we have found Labconco FreeZone freeze dryers to be an excellent combination of quality materials, consistent operation, and ease-of-use, all of which make these models a real value. The control panel is clear, easy-to-read and operate. The vacuum graph display and collector temperature graph display are especially useful, indicating the relative vacuum level and temperature so that you can tell at a glance how the unit is operating and whether it has reached the proper vacuum and temp.
