We’ve talked about Thermo UxF series ultralow freezers in the past and in the time since that post was published we’ve had more time and plenty of opportunity to work with these models. We’ve come to the conclusion that the Thermo UxF series are a good value that offer reliability and relatively energy efficient ultralow storage.
American Instrument Exchange now has in stock a Thermo Revco UxF30086 ultralow freezer. It’s the first time we’ve seen this model and we really like it. Like the older Revco ULT 1186 model the UxF30086 packs a decent storage capacity into a small footprint, ideal for labs with limited floor space but still offering more interior space than, say, a small portable ultralow unit.
Features include an innovative touch-screen control panel which allows users to control the settings and authority levels, monitor the freezer’s health 24/7 and access detailed event log, and an on-board computer can store up to 15 years’ worth of temperature and event data; environmentally friendly CFC/HCFC-free refrigerants and a high efficiency compressor for excellent performance; brazed plate heat exchanger allows more efficient heat transfer and induction brazed joints reduce leak potential and improve reliability; a heated door gasket with four touch points of security and seven zones of protection, maximizing cabinet temperature and eliminating frost build-up.
