If you’re looking for an ultracentrifuge, take a look at the Beckman Coulter Optima XE-100, a classified S model that can be used with all currently manufactured Beckman Coulter preparative rotors. The touch screen on the Optima XE is both the information display and the control input for the instrument. As they are needed, control buttons appear on the screen. When you select a button, you activate that control. The touch screen position is adjustable (both swivel and tilt) to be made viewable from nearly anywhere in the lab. This is especially useful in environments where a single operator may oversee a number of instruments. We have compatible rotors in stock, too!

We’ve recently received several biosafety cabinets, including 3’ wide Labconco Logic models, 6’ wide Labconco Logic+ models, Baker SG404 models, and Baker SG403 models. All of these are being sold with stands and new HEPA filters installed by our technicians prior to shipment from our shop in Haverhill, MA. All of these are Class II Type A2 models, meaning they provide personnel, product, and environmental protection through filtered air, laminar or unidirectional air, and a motor blower. Room air is drawn in through the front grill of the cabinet. The air is pulled under the work surface and through a back wall plenum through a motor blower. This contaminated air is then pushed into the central plenum, where a small portion (30%) of air is exhausted out of the top of the cabinet through a HEPA filter. The remaining air (70%) is re-circulated back into the work zone through a HEPA filter in a laminar (unidirectional) pattern. The air then splits on the work surface, pulled through the back wall grill, around the edges of the work surface, and back through the front airflow grill, where it is pulled under the work surface to start the air recirculation process.

Speaking of biosafety cabinets: for our New England customers we’re now offering NSF accredited field service work for biosafety cabinets, laminar flow clean benches, chemical fume hoods, and other clean air systems throughout Greater Boston and New England. Whether you purchased the unit from American Instrument Exchange or from another vendor we can provide the initial certification as well as annual certifications and any necessary diagnostics or repairs. The addition of these on-site services simplifies the process of purchasing and installing biosafety cabinets and other clean air systems. There’s no need to coordinate multiple vendors – simply call American Instrument Exchange and we can schedule delivery and certification of a refurbished biosafety cabinet, along with decontamination and removal of any units you need to decommission.

For those customers in the market for CO2 incubators we have several recent vintage Panasonic MCO units available. These are designed with InCu-saFe copper-enriched stainless-steel alloy offers germicidal properties of elemental copper, without corrosion and discoloration. With unique antibacterial coating, the dew stick—controlled by Peltier technology— attracts water drops to its surface, which then fall back into the humidity pan, preventing unwanted condensation in the chamber.

We also have several Thermo CryoPlus models in stock. These autofill cryogenic storage chambers  provide accurate control and autofill capability without complicated programming feature top-mounted control panels that allow easy access to the CryoPlus’ microprocessor controller for programming. Two independent, flexible gaskets reduce the migration of moisture into the chamber and reduce icing. 24 tricolor LEDs continuously display actual liquid nitrogen level and high-level/low-level setpoints.
